File Search includes many advanced file search features including:
•Search any disk media on your machine for any type of file or the contents of any file.
•Search for files or folders, search for text or sets of characters within files from anywhere on your PC.
•Rename, Copy, Delete (to Recycle Bin), Move, and Launch (file with an associated application) Files.
•
Quickly load any image file into a re-sizeable image viewer. <Alt> + <0>
•You can check for specific text in any or all drives, folders, and sub-folders.

File Search - To start, click on toolbar icon, or
(Function key - F3) or
(Function key - F8)
File Search - Images - To start, click on toolbar icon, or (Function key - F7)
All three File Search windows can display images, in the File Search - Images window, the Search criteria prompt defaults to image extensions. Also the images are displayed in original size (image viewer adjusts to the original size). The default in the File Search - Images window is to display all the image file types.


Go Button (Alt + g) - By default, clicking on this button will display all the files in the current listed folder in the 2. Location - Drive\path prompt. Each time you make a change to the search window, click on this button to refresh the File list.
Special Note on using both File Search Windows - When you set the search criteria in one of the File Search windows, and then start the other (for example, File Search - Images), it automatically passes the File List (queue list) to the other window.
Options (Filter Options) - Additional filter options such as search all drives, date filters, size filters, include hidden and system folders

Note: Sometimes you look at a file search list, and it appears that some files are missing - check your Filter Options window, and clear a previous filter - with the clear button.
Copy to Clipboard Buttons -
Filename, Folder Location + Filename, Folder Location Only
Copy the Filename only - parallels_desktop_for_mac.jpg
Folder Location + filename - C:\Users\Public\Documents\PS7\Example Data\parallels_desktop_for_mac.jpg
Folder Location only to clipboard - C:\Users\Public\Documents\PS7\Example Data
•You can paste this information into a Product or Vendor record.
•For example, copy the filename only of an image file to the clipboard, and paste this to the Product Image field.
•Copy the path + filename and paste it into any File Dialog prompt - Image Editor, or any program on your computer with File Dialog Prompts, etc.

File List - By primary clicking (usually left mouse button) on the column headers, Name, Date, Size, Type and Path can be sorted in Ascending or Descending order.

<Alt> + <z> returns the focus to the highlighted record.
Paste from clipboard - Paste from clipboard to the prompt on the left.
Clear - Click on this button to clear the prompt to the left of the button.
Copy to clipboard - Copy to the clipboard from the prompt to the left of the button.

1. Search - Type in a specific filename (EZChangeLog.chm) or type in a wildcard (*.docx) of your own choosing or a combination of filenames and wildcards (EZChangeLog.chm,*.docx). Separate each by a comma.

or use the built-in extension wildcards such as the MM (Multi-media) button to quickly display all the Multi-media files in the folder or folder and sub-folders.

2. Location - Drive\path - The default path is the Product Scope 7 path you select at the Select - Create Data Folder window, but can be easily changed to any folder by either typing in the path at the Drive\Path prompt or clicking on the

3. Word or Phrase in File - If you are looking for a word or phrase in a particular file or files, you can use this prompt to narrow your search.
•AND button - Search for two words or phrases, both must be in the file.

•OR button - Search for two words or phrases, either can be in the file.
•word documents[-]spreadsheets
S.C.L.O - Search current list only - Search all files only within the current list displayed, even if Location or Drive\Folder options are changed.

File Search Lookups - Save your searches - Save important search criteria such:
•Search (filename, extension, wildcard, etc.)
•Location folder
•Word or phrase in file
•Copy - Move to folder
•Sort by Name, Path, Date, Size, Type (Ascending or Descending)
•Output to Screen, Printer
•Search current folder only, or folder plus sub folders or whole drive.
Once you accumulate a number of saved searches, you'll also appreciate using the same tools in other browses such as Search all text fields, or Query to help you find a previously saved search.

•To use File Search Lookups: Click on the clear button, then click on the File Search Lookup description prompt or use the short-cut key combination <Alt> + <b> :
•This will load the Browse File Search Lookups window. Refer to the File Search Lookup topic for saving and loading search criteria.

4. File Actions
Load the image viewer with the currently highlighted image file. <Alt> + <0>
Rename - The highlighted filename can be renamed.
Copy - Copy the highlighted filename in the current list to the folder listed in the 4. File Actions folder prompt. This will copy the filename, and if the current folder location does not exist, it will be created. Note: filename must be highlighted and have the focus.
Delete - The highlighted filename is deleted and sent to the Recycle Bin. Note: Filename must be highlighted and have the focus.
Move - Move the highlighted filename in the current list to the folder listed in the 4. File Actions folder prompt. This will move the filename, and if the current folder location does not exist, it will be created. If a file exists in the move to folder with the same filename, no action occurs. Note: filename must be highlighted and have the focus.
Launch - Any highlighted file with an associated application can be launched with this action. Also, program files can be launched as well.
Note: Highlighted file must have focus before copying, deleting or moving.
Pop Up Menu - Click on Secondary mouse button (usually right mouse button)

Search (Get Files - same as the Go button)
Open (Launch)
Copy, Delete, Move or Rename the highlighted file
Multiple File operations
•Copy, Move or Delete marked files
•Mark/Un-mark a single file. Use this technique to mark multiple files.
•Mark All
•Un-mark All

5. Drive\Folder Options
Mouse click on the radio buttons.
F - current Folder only F\Sub - Current Folder and Sub Folders All - All Drives and Folders

7. Output
N - No output - Displays the file list only.
P - Printer - Displays the file list and sends a report of the file list to the printer

You can list additional file image types in the File list, but only the formats mentioned above are currently supported in the auto preview in this version of Product Scope 7.
