When you startup the program for the first time (either after the initial install or other times the program is initially run), you must select a valid Data Folder.
You can create a data folder by clicking on the Create Folder Program button, or select one already created. As your data folder list grows, to make it easier, just type the first couple letters of the Data Folder Description to highlight a data folder record - then click on the Select Data Folder button.
If you are a first time user of the program, it is recommended, you click on Product Scope 7 - Example Data to highlight it and then click on the Select Data Folder button.
OR
If you have logged into a User Account and there is no sample data and menu as shown in the screen shot - click on the Create Folders help topic.
At the Main window of Product Scope 7, click on this button -
It is also recommended you print the topic - Getting Started Tutorial - Use this tutorial to get acquainted with the general operation of Product Scope 7 and general use of the major features. |
We include samples data files and you can click on the selection - Product Scope 7 - Example Data - Vista and Windows 7 location - C:\Users\Public\Documents\Encourager Software\Product Scope 7\Example Data\ Pre-Vista Location C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\Encourager Software\Product Scope 7\Example Data and you can use these sample files at that data folder location. We include some other Data Folder Locations that are used for tutoring purposes only. These folders ARE not initially installed on your computer. However, for example, if you highlight the selection - Home - Appliances and click on the Select Data Folder button, it will create the data folder - C:\Users\Public\Documents\Product Scope 7\Home\Appliances\ (Microsoft Vista location) - There won't be any test data in this folder. |
An alternative to using the Create Folder Program - when the program is initially run - select a data folder, then Exit the program - at the Exit Alert window - Click on the Yes button.

Exit Alert - You may now exit the program or Select another Data Folder
At the Select - Create Data Folder window, you can create new data folders, modify the current records, or delete Data Folder Location records.

NOTE: Deleting a data folder location record does NOT delete the actual data folder. The Data Folder record points the program to display the information in the data folder.
Modifying a data folder location record does NOT modify the actual data folder name.
However, Adding a Data File Location creates a NEW folder on your computer if the folder did not exist before. You can add an existing folder location as well.
