Software Developers - brief tutorial on PS7 Clipboard use

Print this Topic Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

Note: While these screen shots specifically refers to examples for the programming tool - Clarion Professional Edition or Clarion Enterprise Edition - flagship programming tool by SoftVelocity - it can apply to any programming environment.

Data folders in Product Scope can be project data folders - software projects you're working on, etc

GO beyond thinking merely of products - a product record could be documentation for ALL kinds of data.

Examine this simple illustrative screen shot:

This displays a Select Colors code query (used in PS7 Clipboard), using product records to store color codes, but just as easily could be a query for embed codes, etc

AND using example screen shots to let me see the bigger picture (and associate it with certain select colors records),

In this example, the image viewer shows me the color theme scheme (at a glance) that I need for that particular browse - the description field contains the color code, and I can use the copy to clipboard for the color code -

AND with the new PS7 clipboard, you can park the program on TOP the Clarion 6 (or Clarion 7) IDE, and copy the color codes to the appropriate color prompts for the browse.

Again, ALL a fairly simple example, but imagine, you develop some code, very complicated, but use again and again, now you can copy that embed code to a product record (or text file), and associate a screen shot so you can easily recall what you did.

OR, just as easily, you use third party products, but of course, must use a number of steps to implement a certain feature (not easily remembered) - sure, you could read the help file each time,

or make some short cut screen shots, some helpful hints, even copy some of that help file to a product record - now, next time you implement that features, park PS7 clipboard on top the C6-C7 IDE - recall your screen shots, help hints etc

In the data folder itself, could contain all kinds of various documents including spreadsheets, Word documents, text files, ZIP files, videos, etc

In a product record, link fields are available - any file extension association basically works with a link field - so click on a button - open a CHM, Word Document, PDF, ZIP, open a Help and Manual Project etc

Here are some more illustrations using PS7 Clipboard in reference to this popular Encourager Software blog.
